DARC assisted the Cross River State government in its desire to improve the economy of its people through various poverty alleviation strategies by setting up the Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency, (MEDA). This Agency will harness poverty alleviation schemes for the micro, small and medium entrepreneurs. Under this project, DARC has conducted profiling and baseline survey of microfinance and microenterprise activities in Cross River State, and as well developed operational and policy manuals for the organization. DARC is currently facilitating a training of trainers program under MEDA by training selected unemployed youths in the various Local Government Areas of Cross River State. These youths are trained to develop their skills to train the SMEs in their Local Government Areas. The key objective of this project is to alleviate poverty and promote extension of financial services to the poor, small and medium entrepreneurs in Cross River State.
